Share play on PS4 and PS5, what is it?

Share game is a new option on PS4 and PS5 that allows you invite a visitor to look at your screen during a session lasting a maximum of 60 minutes. If you're stuck in a level, or want someone to be able to try out a game, Share Play lets you give them control.

Have an internet speed of 2 Mbps minimum

Some information to know before starting

There are several things to know about a Share Play session. First, the visitor does not need to have a copy of the game in order to use the Share Game. Secondly, a session lasts one hour : it ends automatically one hour after the visitor has logged in. In addition, when you are the host, you are the only one who can win trophies during the Share Play session.

Alone your game's screen and audio are shared: other screens and screens of applications other than games cannot be seen by the visitor. Depending on the game, the Share Play feature may not be available or the visitor may not be able to see certain scenes.

How do I use Share Play on a PS4 console?

Here's how to use Share Play on PS4:

From the PS4 home screen, press up to reach the function screen> Party > Start Party
Select Create a group
Choose a name for your group, select privacy settings, and then Add players to invite friends to join your Party
From the Party screen, select Jshared > Start
To join the Share Game as a visitor, select Share game > Join Share Game from the Party screen.

When a visitor logs in to Share Play, your console screen will be shared with them.

If you want to give the controller to the visitor, select Share game > Give the controller to the visitor
To retrieve the controller, select Share game > Take the joystick again.

How do I use Share Play on PS5?

Press the PS button to access the Control Center
Select Party's voice chat card
Select Start screen sharing, then Start Share Game
Select a player in voice chat and invite them.

Share Play will launch when the invited player logs in.
